SINGER SEWING LESSONS

In Singer's heyday, it dominated the market for home sewing machines, and their ads boasted of there being "A Singer Store in every city"! Beautifully illustrated advertising,  in newspapers, magazines, and the front of Singer Stores, showed how ladies could buy all of their sewing notions, buttons, fabric, Singer Fashion Aids, and more, in their local store.

If you want to join a group of vintage Singer sewing machine enthusiasts, learning to sew using the lessons in this vintage kit, check out -

When you purchased a Singer Sewing machine, you were given your sales contract ( Singer pioneered the buy on payments system, to help sell more machines.), and a packet of coupons, one of which, was for Singer Sewing Lessons, at your local Singer Store, it entitled the buyer to receive the Singer Sewing Skills manual, as well as a description of the skills covered, in each separate class, and 6 wax paper envelopes, with the fabric called for, to try out each skill taught, in the pink paperback copy, or the green hardback version, of Singer's Sewing Skills!

This is one version of the many different Singer classes coupons, which buyers received, with their brand new Singer Sewing Machine purchase. Some coupons were in a booklet, and if you tore the coupon out of the book, before class, it was no good, so you had to leave it attached!

Singer Sewing Skills Project Materials kit with Singer Sewing Skills manual
Singer sewing Skills were used for many classes, and this packet of "Project Materials" varied, according to when, and where, you had your classes. Believe it or not, you can still do the majority of fancy sewing, using a straight stitch sewing machine! Yes, zigzag stitches work great for various fabrics, and special designs, but a straight stitch machine, in the hands of a dedicated sewing worker, can make incredible fashions, textiles, and yes, sports equipment, even!
Singer Sewing Skills Reference Book & Project Materials came in a large envelope, with the materials for the projects, were in small Singer waxed envelopes.

6 wax envelopes, were stamped with the lesson number they were specifically prepared for.
