Simplicity Easy Lock 800 3 thread serger and timing positions

Simplicity  EasyLock 800 3 thread serger is almost identical to the BabyLock 3-407

Simplicity Easy Lock 800 3 thread serger

The Simplicity Easy Lock 800 3 thread serger is a well made early home serger, which also works well for many cottage sewing industry setups. It was used for professionally sewing curtains, by the lady we purchased it from.

Needle system DCx1 (industrial round shank)

Industrial style tension units have more adjustability, turning many times, offering fine tuning for stitches.

This timing positioning is specific to this Simplicity Easy Lock 800 3 thread serger, including the needle system used.

Always use the correct needle system when sewing, or timing a sewing machine or serger, since different needle systems are different lengths, and configurations, and it DOES matter, when timing any sewing machine or serger.

Remove presser foot, and raise upper knife by pushing it to the right and rotating it forward and up, out of use.

These are photos of where the needle, upper looper, and lower looper should be, at each point in stitch formation.

Be sure you have a new DCx1 (it should have a round shank, not a flat shank) needle correctly installed, before attempting to adjust the left and right timing positions of your upper and lower loopers, in relation to needle position.

Threading Order

Thread paths are color coded, making it easy to see which threads go in which tension units, and thread guides.

1.  Upper looper - the center thread cone of thread, and tension unit.

2. Lower looper - far right thread cone and lower right tension unit. You WILL need long, bent serger needles to thread this, but I also recommend buying a pack of the blue plastic dental threaders for flossing teeth with braces. This makes threading the lower looper easier.

3. Needle should be threaded last.

Needle going up, upper looper eye directly below needle point, see lower looper position, at its' furthest right location.

Upper looper furthest position left of needle, needle on way down to scoop upper looper thread off back scarf of upper looper

Needle lowest position, note position of upper looper eye.

Needle tip just above plate, notice upper and lower looper eyes are exactly above and below each other, vertically aligned.
