Bell is a very tiny, lightweight, portable, straight stitch only, freearm sewing machine, which came in 2 styles of cases, an upright style, and a suitcase version, which is the more common case Bell sewing machines are found in. (Compare to Singer Featherweight as a light portable, but the Bell is even lighter.)
A straight stitch only machine, the tiny Bell is not a fast machine, or at least mine is, it is quite slow, but mine may need the motor or pedal serviced. With such a tiny handwheel, it takes a couple of turns to make a stitch.

Bell stitch length adjustment, and forward and reverse controls. Accessories label on plastic (Bakelite?) sliding cover of accessory box areas Yes, the Bakelite cover is missing a corner, as it was this way, when I got it. Many Bell cases are missing this cover. |

The tiny green Bell was designed so the case back comes off, and the freearm machine sets into the case, a stainless steel extension bed sits around it, turning it into a flatbed machine.
Accessories store under a sliding plastic cover, in 2 built in boxes, in front of the machine, and the pedal stores at the end of the case, the stainless steel extension bed stores in the case top. (Do not store ruffler or pintuck marker in the accessory boxes, they are too tall for the accessory lid to fit, and couldpossibly damage the plastic lid.)
The Bell was designed to be lubricated with powdered graphite, but most collectors have switched them to sewing machine oil, due to being frozen, when they find them, and not having a manual, initially.
