I especially love that the Evolve can chain off of the cover stitching, so it doesn't jam like other cover stitch machines, and I don't have to sew on & off a swatch of fabric at the end of everything, like those other cover stitch machines do! You DO need to put your needles down into fabric, for the first coverstitch stitch to form, but you can chain off, at the end.
Why did I want the Evolve, instead of keeping my Baby Lock Imagine Wave?
Because I wanted the cover stitches, and the Evolve does one, 2 and 3 thread cover stitches, plus the safety stitch, flat locking, chain stitch, 3 and 4 thread overlock stitches and a huge number of other stitches I haven't yet had time to explore!
You can use your Evolve for decorative stitching, shadow stitching, it is almost unlimited in the number of different stitches and different applications it can do!
Is it easy to switch to the cover stitch? YES! It is so quick and easy to switch from overlocking to the cover stitch and back, that I decided there was no point in buying a separate cover stitch machine that would require threading a whole other machine, so I realized it was cheaper and easier to just switch from one stitch to another on my Evolve!
The video above shows the Evolution, it just has LED lights, the WAVE stitch (which is also available on the Evolve WAVE) and a new name, it is otherwise the same as the Evolve. My Evolve doesn't have the Wave stitch, but I had it on my Imagine Wave, before I sold it, to afford the Evolve and set of 16 feet & accessories.

Automatic tension makes switching from one stitch to another SUPER FAST and EASY! I love the simplicity of the stitch selector, the ease of the knobs to switch from overlocking to rolled hemming, locking and unlocking the knife with a knob, the ease of the differential feed switch, and the huge variety of stitches this incredible machine can do!
If you can't afford the EVOLUTION, the EVOLVE is the same machine, with the old type of light (which everyone I have talked to prefers!), and the EVOLUTION can thread all the loopers and chain stitch at the push of 1 button which is motorized, instead of individually with the jet air. If your Evolve does not have the wave stitch, those are the only 3 things that are the difference between the EVOLVE and the EVOLUTION!
