BROTHER SEWING MACHINES HA1-B3

BROTHER HA1-B3 SEWING MACHINE

Straight Stitch Only - Hand Crank (mine)

In the 1950's, Masayoshi Yasui of Japanese sewing machine manufacturer Brother, began exporting sewing machines to the United States, as well as knitting machines, typewriters, vacuum cleaners, fans, and other electronics, competing with American manufacturers, you could say it was the beginning of the end, for the U.S.A.'s stranglehold on the world's manufacturing. It took decades, but between Japan's focus on providing inexpensive, good quality machines, they were able to undercut the prices of American companies, that Japan literally took over as the main manufacturer of sewing machines, for a time.
My hubby's favorite sewing machine, is this hand crank green Brother sewing machine, that came in an incredibly heavy case, that was dMaged. The green metal flap is an extension table flap, reminiscent of Singer 301 & Featherweight 221 & 222, but is attached to the carry case base, not the machine. Currently,  it is my only hand crank machine, and is your basic Singer 15 clone, straight stitch machine.
