Howard's Feed N Wax for vintage sewing machines & wood

Howard's Feed N Wax for vintage sewing machines and wood furniture and cases, is recommended by Ray Elkins, a vintage sewing machine refurbishing and repair expert, who has traveled much of the U.S.A., instructing paying students, in his SEW PURTY WORKSHOPS, how to refurbish their vintage sewing machine, in intensive, hands on classes.

As Ray explains, many vintage sewing machines and treadles, are not black from a modern paint, but Japanned, with a mix of lamp black, asphalt, and linseed oil, which is improved, protected by the Howard's Feed N Wax for wood furniture.

Even stinky wood vintage sewing machine cases, can be cleaned and renewed, by applying Howard's Feed N Wax on both the inside, and outside of the cases, because the bad smell is caused by the wood drying out so much, that it, and the animal hide glues used to hold it together, begin absorbing moisture from the air, creating a bacteria breeding ground, hence, the stench.

The Howard's Feed N Wax goes through the fabric covers, rehydrating the wood, as well as the glues. The oils in it both rehydrate, and create a protective barrier, which helps prevent further absorption of environmental moisture, which helps protect it from stinking again.

In severe cases of vintage sewing machine case stench, a luminescent light bulb in a work light, can be left on, with the case closed, as far as the cord allows, will dry out the interior of the case, and help kill bacteria and smell,  then treat the case, inside, and out, with Howard's Feed N Wax.

I highly recommend Ray Elkins' classes, whether you travel to his Kentucky home, or invite him to travel to your community, and hold classes, when he starts traveling again.
