Frozen Presser Foot Bar Repair Kenmore

When a sewing machine presser foot bar won't move at all, or won't push down against the feed dogs, regardless of what your pressure setting is set for, this is usually because the lower part of the presser foot bar usually has dried up oil, especially where it goes through the machine body.

Clean it with a paintbrush, or Qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol and then oil with either TriFlow oil, or sewing machine oil.

This can actually freeze up solid, over time, if not cleaned and oiled, and work the bar up and down, repeatedly, making sure to get all the sticky oil worked out. It may take 2 or 3 clean/oil cycles to free it up completely.

I made a video about fixing frozen presser foot bar, 4 years ago, and shared it in a group, but forgot to put it on YouTube, so I'm uploading it now.

In the video, in response to someone, I showed where to squirt WD40 and TriFlow oil, or Sewing machine oil, a flathead screwdriver, and a rubber mallet. They had already tried cleaning and oiling, unsuccessfully.

Try the cleaning and oiling, first, then if that doesn't free it enough, do the WD40 Tri Flow, once free, flush out the WD40, with sewing machine oil, while holding a paper towel under the area the bar comes out of machine, and work presser foot bar up and down, to work out all carmelized, dry sticky oil, and WD40.
