BabyLock 5360E Overlocker Serger
BabyLock 5360E Overlocker serger
BL4-5360E
4/3 thread mock safety stitch (a mock safety stitch the upper looper does not get caught in the left needle), only the lower looper catches the left needle, on the bottom. Sergers which make the mock safety stitch, do NOT sew wide flatlock stitch, or 4 thread overlock stitch. This is on purpose, it is not an accident, it does NOT mean your machine needs fixed. While it may be possible to retime the upper looper to sew the 4 thread overlock stitch, it does not work, the upper looper is slightly shorter (about 2mm) shorter than the upper looper on the models which sew a 4 thread overlock.

If it has a D or E after the model #, it has Differential Feed- the 5360E in my photos does have differential feed.
Differential Feed is a lever on the right side of BabyLock sergers, which can adjust the front feed dog to either gather + up to 2, or stretch fabric -.7, as you serge.)
A serger, or overlocker, trims the fabric, sews the seam, and finishes the edges, to prevent fraying, all in one quick step.

BabyLock 5360E thread tension controls are calibrated, but you need to stand up, and look down on the tension knobs, to read the settings. |
