Domestic Vibrator Sewing Machine

The Domestic Vibrator sewing machine is very similar to the Singer 27 or 127, or 3/4 size 28 or 128 Vibrating Shuttle models. It uses a long shuttle and bobbin, and even has the shuttle lifter, to make it easier to remove the shuttle, to wind a new bobbin.

I completely forgot that I never wrote the blog about this machine, though I took the photos many years ago! Sorry for the glare, this machine was so shiny, it was very difficult to photograph. I had to edit photos to help the machine details show up, despite the glare.

This Domestic Vibrator is low shank, making it easy to find feet and attachments. It is called vibrator, since the shuttle moves forward, and back, to allow the shuttle to catch the needle thread, and lock it in a stitch. Vibrating shuttle was the common description for all sewing machines with this movement.

Notice takeup lever has a quick threading feature!

I do not know anything about why the motor and belt pulley are this way, it came this way

This belt pulley seems to be backwards, to me, but it came to me, this way, with belt pulley on the outside, instead of between handwheel and machine.

I do not know if these were supposed to have the belt on the handwheel on the outside, like it is, here, or if the belt should be between the handwheel and the machine, like most other machines. This is how it came to me.
